A huge secret has been kept for many years by the owners of flower shops all over the world. Shop employees are aware of the secret, and they keep it well hidden. It is true, they have been keeping this secret for many, many years now. It is not so much a conspiracy, as it is the hiding of what may be perceived by some to be shameful.

People buy flowers from London flower shops for a lot of different reasons. A husband may buy flowers for his wife on their anniversary, her birthday, and especially Valentine’s day. Children buy flowers for their Mother on mother’s day. Even office executives purchase flowers for their office workers on secretaries day. Giving the gift of flowers has become a worldwide pastime.

Many husbands bring flowers to their wives as an apology. More than a few husbands bring flowers home to their wives for no reason at all. Of course this is because they love their wives. However, this is where the secret lies. The truth of the matter is that men frequently buy flowers because men like flowers.

Sadly, too many of these men feel the need to make an excuse for their purchase. ‘They are for a sick friend, for my mother, for my wife’. The excuses are endless. After all, one can always find an excuse to buy a woman flowers, right? Why only for woman? Imagine a man walking in and buying flowers. When asked who they are for, he responds, ‘I thought they would look lovely on the dining room table’. Yeah right, that is going to happen’

Why must there be gender rules applied when it comes to the enjoyment of beautiful things? After all it is not as though he bought himself a pretty dress. If he did, well, that is covered somewhere else, in some other article. Boys and men are supposed to like sports and cars, and girls and women are expected to enjoy the ballet and sewing. In this day in age? Rather archaic indeed. It is a bit like saying that only women are allowed to enjoy chocolate ice cream, and men must stick with vanilla’

A man who likes flowers is sure to choose the best ones when bringing them as a gift. How much better is this than the oaf who rips them out of the neighbors yard on the way into the house, hands them to his wife, and says ‘here, don’t say I never gave ya nothing’ This is sort of the counterpart of the wife who opens a can, throws a plate into the microwave, shoves it towards her husband, and says’ here’s your dinner’.

Who wants to spend a serious amount of time with the man who thinks ‘the Mona Lisa’s smile is overrated, the opera would be great if you could understand what they were singing about, and why oh why must I tuck in my shirt at church’? No, indeed a man who enjoys beauty is a man of fine taste.

With all of this said, it is important to understand that your business is appreciated. It may well surprise many men to learn that the people in these flower shops will be thrilled to hear that you are buying flowers for yourself

Would you enjoy the convenience and fast delivery from London flower shops? These friendly and professional London florists can help you arrange the most beautiful bouquets.

Loneliness is all around us. Even though we find ourselves in a planet with billions of people, many of these people live alone. Others, who may live with others, still harbor extreme loneliness on a continual basis. In the case of woman, we find many searching for advice on:

a) How to make a man fall in love with me

b) How to make a man love you and you alone

c) How to love a man and all that he does

d) How to love a guy

e) How to make a man love you forever and ever

A man is a very different “type of animal”. Many a woman has tossed and turned in her bed trying to figure that special guy out, and show him that they love him. Are gifts and presents the only what that you can show that special guy in your life that you care? Hardly. In this article we will be examining and exploring the various ways in which it is possible to tell that special man in your life that you love him through and through…

Food…

We have all probably heard that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. For many men this is true. We can’t go so far as to say that the only way to get a man love you is to go through his stomach, but it is true that almost every guy appreciates good food, and all that time and thought that has gone into it’s preparation.

1) For starters we will begin with the first meal of the day, which is breakfast. Why not make him something truly special to get his day off on the right foot? Think he might like some heart-shaped pancakes? If he’s not into pancakes how about trimming the corners off a piece of toast to replicate the shape of a heart? Even the butter that could accompany this dish could be trimmed into a heart shape. It will go great on those pancakes or toast. Yummy!!!

2) The next meal of the day is lunch. Many men take their lunch from home, and this provides you with a great opportunity to show him that you love him. Why not make him a special lunch meal and pack it with a note saying “I love you”. He will be quite surprised…especially when he is looking for that “same ole, same ole sandwich”.

3) The last meal of the day is the evening meal, at least for most people. Even though it’s the last meal of the day, this doesn’t mean that it has to be the least romantic. You could start things off with a dinner via candlelight. Play some romantic and soothing music in the background. That great little bottle of wine. Oh, and don’t forget to make him that special meal that he often raves about.

4) Snacks are often eaten throughout the day, but a romantic snack is a very memorable invent. I wonder, did you have that special treat that you ate together when you first started dating? An ice cream cone and a walk along the lake perhaps? Nobody says that you can’t recreate this experience again by “retracing your steps”. Bring on the romantic snack!

Showing Affection

Everyone needs to know that people care about them. Men are included in this group ladies! Even those “strong and silent type” guys can get a tear in the eye when they watch a very sad or touching movie. Looking for a way to show that special guy that you love him? Why not try:

1) A hug says so, so much. When he least expects it, why not give him one. Come up from behind, put your arms around him, and give him a great big bear hug. You could whisper “I love you” into his ear. No need to overdo this mind you…keep it special.

2) Listen, plain and simple. So many times when the guy comes home from work his ear falls off from the events of “your day”. He probably wants to relax a bit and not hear all about your woes and worries. Sit back and listen to what he has to say for a change. Instead of trying to change the subject all the time, truly listen, and offer “I’m listening responses”, like “I see” or “Hmmm”…

3) On the other side of the coin, there are some guys don’t like to talk at all when they arrive home from work. Remember, they’ve been battling the traffic, the clients, the boss, and “who knows” during the day, and they need time to unwind. They will probably talk your ear off once they do relax a bit, but be sure not to pepper them with questions as soon as they get home, or give him the latest version of that “Honey Do List”. Just let him unwind a bit…

4) Guys (at least quite a few of them) love a good relaxing massage. Are you gifted in giving a massage? Why not unleash this talent? Start off with the back, and run your fingers through his hair. Give him every opportunity to tell you what he likes and what he doesn’t like. What a great way to unwind and prepare for the evening…

Romantic Activities

Many guys are very adventurous. They love to explore and try out new things. They love to test their manliness. Here are a few things that you can do together…

1) You can show your man that you love him is to do something that you would not normally do. For example, perhaps you really hate football. You have made no surprise of this to the guy in your life. Why not put your distain for the sport on hold for a day or two and join him on the couch watching his favorite team? Instead of rolling your eyes and saying “Why are they so brutal” … ask him what a “first down” means. Guys love to show that they are knowledgeable about something, and will love to explain in detail to you the finer points of the game. If he’s not into football, but baseball, or basketball, or hockey, well, I’m sure you can figure out what you should ask him if you watch the sport for a few minutes…

2) What about chores? Does that special guy in your life have chores that he needs to do on a regular basis? Here’s an idea. Why not do it for him for once. Tell him that since he looks tired you decided to help him out. Remember to tell him that you are helping him out for once. If not, you may find that you have bought yourself yet one more chore to do around the house.

3) Why not engage in a pillow fight? For most of us a pillow fight brings back memories of our childhood and jumping up and down on the bed. Who says we have to leave this activity behind once we lose our baby teeth and leave home? When you are lying in bed one night, perhaps watching the television, why not just grab your pillow and give him a good wallop? He might be really involved in what he is watching so you had probably better gauge his mood before you do. Who knows? You might have “hit him” at the right time and in the right place, and with his childhood memories reignited, you get yours and get yours good. Let the pillow fight begin!

Compliments Are Great

We all love to get compliments. We like to hear that others like our clothes, our jewelry, our hair, our “whatever”. Do you know how to compliment a guy? Here are a few ways:

1) Say nice complimentary things about your guy when you are out with others. Tell others how special he is, or how hard he works, or how much he cares. Word will eventually get back to that man of yours, and he will be thrilled that all the good aspects of his character have not gone unnoticed.

2) Is that special guy of yours into clothes? Does he fancy himself a great dresser? If so, he will appreciate the fact that others notice his great sense of style. Take special note of any new clothes that he is wearing, and be sure that he knows you notice.

3) What do you like? Is there something that your man does that you really appreciate? Does he do the dishes from time to time? Does he take the baby out for a walk when you are exhausted? Let him know that those little things he does are really appreciated.

4) Leave little romantic notes in places that he will find them. Why not put a little note on the steering wheel of his car one evening so he will see it when he gets into it in the morning? It could say something like “You Are Loved”. He will get the hint.

Buy Him Something

For decades, dinner time in the USA meant one thing. Sitting around a kitchen table with your family (and perhaps a few friends), and enjoying a tasty meal together. Eating off a nice table, dinner set complete with a plate, fork, knife, spoon, glass(s), napkins, and a centerpiece, was a nightly ritual. Although it is a far rarer event these days, it’s still a great way to enjoy some great conversation, and a nice way to welcome in the evening hours.

In this article we will be exploring the world of a major aspect of these family dinners, the dinner set. We will be providing a bit of history, and time permitting, go into some of the finer sets available, and where you might be able to obtain them.

The civilizations of the ancient world were characterized by the pottery that remained long after the civilization had passed. When archaeologists were digging around their various archaeological sites they would come across these items, and it’s interesting to note that people often valued these items so much that they were buried with them.

In today’s world we call dinnerware “China”. What a strange name? Have you ever wondered why this is the case? There is a logical answer. Years ago dinnerware was made out of porcelain, and was invented by, you guessed it, the Chinese, over 1000 years ago. In actuality it was probably invented by the Tang Dynasty, but the emperors of the Song Dynasty seem to get most of the credit these days. Mid-way through the Song Dynasty, around 1100 AD, the skill and art of porcelain making had made its way throughout the East. By the year–00 AD it had migrated to Europe.

Years ago, importing fine dinnerware from China was a very expensive proposition. Due to this expense, only the very wealthy could afford to own it. The remedy this situation, the Europeans started to create their own “China Factories”. They modified the process a bit by incorporating some different clays and other materials. This resulted in a softer China, one that was to have a duller tone than those similar products that were being imported from China. Around 1700 we see another form of China starting to emerge onto the scene. It was called “Bone China”, a name resulting from the fact it was a mixture of both porcelain clays and “bone ash”.

A great deal of the collectable and valuable dinnerware that we have circulating today is made out of pottery, not porcelain. It is sometimes referred to as “earthenware”. These items were very popular during the’50′s and’60′s.

Stoneware is the most widely used pottery today. It seems to be all around us, from stores to restaurants, from homes to hotels. Stoneware is fired at a very high temperature until it is completely solid, and therefore able to hold liquids. The process for creating Stoneware, as was porcelain, was developed in China, about 3500 years ago. It’s interesting to note that some of the most sought after pieces of Stoneware were created in the mid’00′s here in the United States (in the Virginia and New England areas to be more exact).

Your honeymoon is no ordinary trip. Its in your best interest that you don’t see it that way either. Trust us when we tell you that your honeymoon is most definitely a big, big deal to your bride. Just like her wedding, she has been fanaticizing about her honeymoon for years. And just like her wedding, her honeymoon must be perfect as well. So with this in mind, you can pretty much forget your plan to toss a few pair of socks, underwear, two shirts and a pair of jeans in a bag and head off your exotic honeymoon location. Odds are you need advice on how to pack. There is a lot of attention given to brides as to what they should take on their honeymoon, but us guys are often completely overlooked.

This list should serve as a good beginning point to help grooms think through what it is that they will need to bring with them for their honeymoon. As you begin to organize your trip, you will likely think of all sorts of small items that you may need to bring. That is a good thing.

Do Yourself A Favor-Don’t Rush: Whatever you do, don’t wait until the last second to begin packing. Waiting until the last moment to do your packing will likely cause you to stress out. This could lead to a fight with your bride. Now that is a horrible way of beginning a honeymoon! Think carefully about what will need on your trip a good month in advance, and then pack your bags at least a week in advance.

Dress the Part of a Gentlemen: Nothing makes the ladies swoon like a sharp dressed fellow. Keep this in mind when packing. A few slick outfits for your fine dining experiences is a very good idea. Your bride will also appreciate the effort you have shown as well.

Say No To Creases: The crease is your enemy. The last thing you want is to arrive at your honeymoon destination only to find that all of your clothing is completely creased. After all who feels like ironing after a ten-hour or even a twenty hour travel day? To keep this from happening, pack clothes that don’t wrinkle easily. Consider dry-cleaning an outfit. Dry cleaned clothes are more resistant to wrinkles and creases.

Turn on the Sexy: You have the rest of your life to be boring in bed. This is your honeymoon and you need to turn it up a notch. Make sure you pack some sexy sleepwear of your own. Your honeymoon is a great opportunity to bring out of sexy boxers or briefs that your bride has not seen before.

Pack To Avoid The Pharmacy: Contemplate your pharmacy needs well in advance, and make sure you have condoms and lubricants handy. Running from place to place in an unfamiliar city looking for such sensitive items could prove stressful.

The Carry On Bag-Your Backup Plan: A smart travel knows the value of packing a couple of days of clothing in their carry on bag. This way if your luggage is lost you still have a change of clothing.

Use Your Hotel: Think through what your hotel has available for free. Any respectable hotel will have soap, shampoo and the like. This, of course, means that you don’t have to pack every single toiletry item that you might need.

Most of us like weddings and a big part of weddings is often to give a toast. The groom’s wedding toast is an absolute must. It doesn’t matter how shy you might be, the groom’s wedding toast is crucial to a wedding. But not to worry, there are a few easy tips that can help any groom make a great wedding toast. One of the first places to start is to make sure that your speech is displaying your romantic side, as well as a sense of humor and originality.

On most occasions, the groom’s toast is one that largely focuses on thanking family and friends for their contributions and time. Of course, any groom worth his salt will want to thank his wife as well. Usually the groom’s speech comes after the father of the bride’s speech. Hopefully, the father of bride has said some nice or even great things about you, which should make the transition to your speech a bit easier.

Keep in mind that the groom’s speech really needs to focus on expressing gratitude to all those people that made your wedding a success. One way to make sure you are appropriately and effectively thanking all those who need to be thanked is to consider who contributed the most to your wedding. When writing your groom’s toast, think about any contributions that were funny or particularly funny or stood out in some other way. These contributions may very well make for great stories. Of course, timing, as always, is everything. With this in mind, your speech should not exceed five minutes. There are going to be many speeches and toast at your wedding, and the last thing you want is for people to remember your wedding as a boring one.

Of course, try not to leave anyone out of your speech. Wedding mistakes of this nature can often wound ego, but no pressure.

The Parents. It should go without saying that thanking the parents is critical. Thanking the parents has an extra level of importance if they have paid for the wedding. Regardless, thanking them for their support and for allowing you into their family is an absolute must. Fake sincerity if necessary.

Thank Those Who Lent An Extra Hand. A special thanks to individuals such as your best man or bridesmaids is always a good idea. More than likely were instrumental in making certain that your wedding was a success.

The Bride. Of course, you should thank your bride and tell her how much you love her. Everyone expects it and people will feel horrible if you forget.

Some Other Tips:

-Whatever you do, don’t try and be someone else. No one wants to see your Steve Martin impression.

-Be yourself. Don’t put on an act.

-Keep a cheat sheet on hand and don’t be afraid to look at it.

-Eye contact is key. When thanking someone look them in the eye.

-Write your speech out and practice!

We thank you for all the kind response regarding the heart jewelry articles that we have written in the past. It’s very heart-warming. Today we would like to go back in time a bit further and write a more “generic” history of jewelry in general. The art form that we know of as “Jewelry Making” as been around for thousands of years, and different cultures have incorporated it in different ways. If we examine their pieces of jewelry we will gain some insight into the inner working of these ancient cultures.

The homo sapiens that lived in Africa provide us with the first sign of a culture using jewelry. They have found snail shell beads at Blombos Cave (situated in the side of a limestone cliff in South Africa) that date back to over 75,000 years ago. If we go to the other side of Africa, at Enkapune Ya Moto in Kenya, they have found beads made from ostrich egg shells that date back to over 40,000 years ago.

When we think of Egypt images of the Great Pyramids and the Ancient Sphinx come to mind. And jewelry making? Not so much…but it is in Ancient Egypt (about 3,000 to 5,000 years ago) that we find the first signs of established jewelry making. Egyptians made their jewelry out of many of the materials that we use today…such as gemstones, but they preferred to make their jewelry out of glass, as it could be colored to satisfy their needs and tastes. For every gemstone that they could find, they were able to create a glass replication that could mimic it. As years went on, other cultures, such as the Phoenicians, used Egyptian jewelry as a template for their own designs.

We all love colored jewelry for it’s beauty, but to the Ancient Egyptians it meant different things. Take for example the color red. The necklace of Isis that was to be placed on the neck of a mummy needed to be red in color. It was thought that this color would satisfy Isis’s need for blood. On the other side of the coin, the color green was used to symbolize growth in crops and fertility. The Ancient Egyptians made their jewelry in large workshops that were often attached to their palaces and temples.

Around 4000 years ago, in the cities of Sumer and Akkad in Ancient Mesopotamia, jewelry development and production started to spring up. This jewelry was often made from metal leaf. It was often set in a large number of brightly-colored stones (such as lapis, jasper, carnelian, and agate). Various shapes, such as grapes, leafs, spirals and cones were also incorporated into their various designs. The Ancient Mesopotamians were also masters in the area of record keeping, and they have found in various archaeological sites huge archives of detailed records relating to not only the creation, but the trading, of jewelry.

Did you enjoy our little departure from our regular heart jewelry articles? It’s very interesting to see how the art form of jewelry making has developed over the history of man.
