St Croix, in the US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean has been a popular honeymoon destination for newly married couples for decades, because the weather there is bright all year round and you can get pleasure from any number of wonderful holiday activities together.
Things to do include hiking, exploring, taking tours, horse riding, water sports like diving or sailing or just and lying in the sun. However, in the past few years, it has also become very popular to travel to St Croix for the actual wedding ceremony itself, not just for the honeymoon. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages to getting married in a foreign land.
First, you have to think about who you want to have there at your wedding. St Croix is governed by American law, so you will be obliged to have a certain number of witnesses. You can use local volunteers but you may not be able to imagine your wedding without your family or your best friends being there.
It is worth remembering that every guest you want to be at your wedding will have to be flown to the island and in many instances, the guests will not be able to afford this trip themselves, which means that you will have to pay for all or at least some of the cost of the flight and the stay. If you cannot afford this, it may not be possible for you to have everyone present at your wedding ceremony that you would want. The cost of a Caribbean wedding on St Croix is a definite disadvantage.
Remember also that you will almost certainly be spending your honeymoon wherever you hold the wedding and although it may be nice to have friends and family around you for the wedding, you might wish they would disappear for the honeymoon.
However, your guests may want to take a vacation while they are in the Virgin Islands, so if you want some time to yourselves, book them into a package holiday deal which will keep them busy in order to give you some time to yourselves. Try to make a block booking and look for a big discount.
However, one of the main advantages is that you are already in the location where you will be honeymooning. Travel is stressful and tiring, although St Croix, USVI is less than 1,300 miles from Florida, so being on the spot for your honeymoon will spare you all that.
Not only that though, your wedding will be an even more unforgettable event because an idyllic beach setting with a sunset background is really very moving. Most couples adore the island scenery, so a Caribbean wedding in St Croix may be just right for you.
When planning your marriage in St Croix, remember that the US Virgin Islands are a legal part of the USA, so US laws and marriage laws relate there. You also do not have to have a passport to go to St Croix, although you are allowed $1,600 worth of duty free goods per person per 30 days. This can make up quite a saving.

There are thousands of newlywed couples that travel to a variety of different places across the world for their honeymoon. Italy seems to be a very popular place to visit and there are many Italy honeymoon packages that can be booked without spending a large amount of money. Look into these great tips to find out how to book a trip and save.
Look at the calendar and determine when the honeymoon is going to take place. Doing this months in advance is going to allow couples to choose the packages that best suits them and their budget. If a couple waits too long, they may end up paying hundreds of dollars more just to get what they want.
To get the right deals, book everything through the internet. Finding a major travel site will help couples see what kind of prices are out there. Look into a number of different sites to see who has the most affordable deals to offer couples for their honeymoon plans.
Keep in mind, these vacation packages are going to offer everything that the couple wants to have a good time. Those who want more than just a flight and a hotel room can easily seek out packages that offer an affordable rental car. Couples who feel comfortable driving on their own should take advantage of this. After the package is booked, the only money needed is for food and souvenirs.
Look for fun activities that can be booked along with the package as well. Guided tours are always great for those who are traveling to Italy for the very first time. When these extras are added to the trip during the check out process, there is going to be a discount applied to the total so that the couple will save a lot more.
Do not forget to start looking for Italy honeymoon packages once the wedding date has been set. If couples wait too long, they are going to pay the price heavily. Take a look around as soon as possible and see what type of packages as well as tours and activities are offered these days.
You can read more articles from Martin Elmer on the website Best honeymoon ideas. Here you can also learn more about Honeymoon packages in Italy.

Continuing with my family adventures in Guatemala we wanted to see what all the hype about hotel Casa Santo Domingo was. So one weekend we decided to stay in it. Yes I live really close to Hotel Santo Domingo but I wanted to have the whole experience.
I already knew what the place looked like and what the food was like because we had visited for mother’s day in case you are wondering: The restaurant is in the middle of the ruins if what used to be a church in Antigua’s Colonial days and the food is really good.
They have some different lodging options with interesting decoration but I was determined to stay in one of their suites because I had heard so much about them, again good and bad. I’m glad I did, the room was beautiful although I could listen to my neighbors sometimes.
I really didn’t know what to think about the location because normally travelers look for something close to the Central Park, even if everything in Antigua is 15 minutes on foot away from the park. It is half block from the super busy main entrance to this Colonial City and 10 minutes on foot away from the Central Park so it’s not centric. You be the judge!
All over the hotel you can find some weird and some beautiful art pieces but they also have a museum filled with stuff that was found when building this hotel (in colonial times it used to be a convent that got destroyed by earthquakes) which I think is very interesting. From time to time there are also some other art exhibitions. Recently they hosted a classic cars exhibition where they had over 200 of them. It was great!
I was there for a wedding once too that took place in the beautiful gardens of El Cerro (the top of a small mountain that surrounds Antigua). To get there takes some time because you have to leave Antigua and go up a small mountain butiIt has a great view of la Antigua that looks amazing at night. The decoration they had was beautiful. But if you are going there remember to bring something warm because even with their heaters on the place gets very cold.
My conclusion is that is a beautiful hotel where they do the best they can to make is a 5 star luxury hotel but they dont always accomplish that.

It is not very often that my husband and I had some time to spend alone and together and we wanted to do something extra fun. The day went fantastic and ended with a fabulous romantic dinner in Mezon Panza Verde. One of the thisgs we decided todo was to go for a short adventure and do something I have never tried before: A private salsa lesson in Antigua Guatemala.
There are many salsa academies in Antigua so it was hard to make up my mind. But when we were talking about it I remembered that I had been told about a really good place where they offer private salsa lessons called Salsa Chapina Dance Company. So we were ready for this adventure. I was a bit nervous at first because I have no idea of how to dance salsa. But salsa is really good music and worth dancing and it wasn’t that bad, in fact it was actually really good and a lot of fun. Here is how it went:
It is located in the center of Antigua so we simply walked there. When I first got in it the place didn’t look like anything special, it’s just a room with mirrors and some ornaments. We met our instructor whose name is Alexander Miranda and was great with us and so patient. He told us about all the different styles of Latin dance he could teach us and we decided to start with some basic salsa moves. At first I was a bit stiff and my feet were not responding very well but after a little while I got very comfortable and that was when all the fun started. I learned nothing fancy but made great progress in my dancing skills.
Then as I started to feel brave I asked our instructor to show us some Rumba and later some Cumbia. Which are a bit differet but not hard to learn. He also knows merengue an bachata but we didn’t have the time to try that. We decided that we would go back as soon as soon as we had some time (i would love to become a good dancer). But this time we will bring along some friends to come with us. I bet it will be just like a party!
As you can see Guatemala has so many different things to offer. Don’t you miss it!

I love living in Antigua because in it you will find everything really close to you, restaurants, hotels, shops and bars. In this case my husband and I wanted to have a romantic day out, so first we went out for lunch at a really cute restaurant called Cafe Flor where they serve really good Thai food less that a block away from the central park. Then we went for a prvate salsa class which turned out to be an extra fun adventure.
And at the end of the day we visited a luxurious hotel of Antigua called Mezon Panza Verde for a romantic dinner I had been planning for a long time. When we were making the reservation they suggested a dinner up in the roof of the hotel where they have a Cupula. This sounded great to me because it was just what I wanted: A super private and romantic evening out with my husband.
When we got there and before they took us to our table we had to do some waiting in the lobby which was not what I wanted but it was ok because it wasn’t too long and it gave me some chance to take more pictures. Then a member of their staff took us to where our table was. To get there we had to walk across the terrace of the hotel, sadly it was a bit cloudy but we still could see the outskirts of the beautiful Agua Volcano and loved it.
When we got there I couldn’t believe how absolutely beautiful it was! La Cupula is this beautiful tiny room where they had a beautifully decorated table.
This ended up being a perfect day out and romantic dinner where my husband and I got the chance to relax and just be together after a long time of not having time for ourselves.
Bottom line is: Antigua isn’t just a beautiful city with lots of places to visit and photograph, it is also a great place for romantic getaways.

Traveling in Antigua Guatemala is something you have to do in Guatemala. It has so many great things and places to offer. There are tons of great restaurants, lots of fun bars, hotels that go from $5 a night to 5 star hotels.
I love its buildings and streets because they are filled with history. But there are also great things to do outside of it. For example there is the earth lodge. It is a place where you can go camping in a safe environment or you can rent a cabin in the middle of the forest with the most amazing views of the nearby towns. You can also go to the only vineyard of Central America: Chateau deFay. Here you can also have lunch and go for a tour in the middle of the vineyards.
For some exciting tours and great food how about Finca Philadelphia? It offers canopy and mule tours around the forest and is located only 5 minutes away from Antigua.
If you want to drive for 10 more minutes you can visit a 5 star hotel & Golf Resort located 20 minutes outside of Antigua Guatemala. It has the Agua Volcano in one side and the active Fuego Volcano at a safe distance. It is called La Reunion Antigua Golf Resort & Residences. This luxurious hotel has 26 rooms with a lovely kids club. We were there for a weekend and loved it. We had some time to explore the place and enjoy the delicious meals in their beautiful restaurant (El Mirador Restaurant where they specialize in meat and pasta but they also offer some seafood dishes.
I’ve visited all of them and I love them and I can say that they are all great. So if you want to do something different around Antigua these are my recommendations.

After your wedding day, your honeymoon is one of the most memorable times of your life and so must certainly count as one of best holidays you will ever take. It is the start of a new life with the person you love. As such it is a good reason to visit somewhere you have always wanted to go, somewhere really special.
One of the most popular places for people to go to on a honeymoon is St Croix, The US Virgin Islands, in the Caribbean.
The Caribbean is the first choice for many newly weds for various reasons: the romance, the people are happy and welcoming, the sand, sea and sunshine, the food and the music. St Croix in the US Virgin Islands is one of the favourite destinations in the Caribbean islands.
St Croix has picturesque beaches and that perfect tropical climate that is so fitting for a wonderful honeymoon. The hotels and the island’s inhabitants love to take care of newly weds and go out of their way to make sure that the honeymooners have the time of their lives – a holiday that they will remember affectionately for ever.
Cost is always a factor when one is planning a honeymoon in the Caribbean, but you do not have not be too worried on that front. A honeymoon on St Croix need not be costly and as it is only 1,300 miles from the USA, so travel costs and travel time are low.
You will not have trouble finding somewhere on the island to suit your desires. However, St Croix is a popular honeymoon destination, especially for Americans, so it is worth booking your honeymoon holiday as early as possible in order to obtain the reservation that you want.
There are three main types of places to stay: a hotel, a vacation rental or a holiday home. The difference between a vacation rental and a holiday home is that the former is a condo or villa purpose built for holiday makers, whereas the holiday home is actually somebody’s house who has let it out for a short period.
When planning your honeymoon, you should think about when you will leave. It was traditional to leave for the honeymoon after a short reception on the day of the wedding, but many couples delay their departure date nowadays. Over the last few decades, it has become the standard to hold an extensive reception hours after the wedding, often at night. This will often go on until midnight or later, which makes leaving for foreign climes rather difficult. A hangover is not a good travelling companion either.
Therefore, you may want to put your going away date off until two days after the wedding, although I think that flying out on the wedding day is still the best idea. If you decide on a holiday home or a vacation rental on St Croix, you will have to make all your own preparations for getting to the airport, flying to St Croix and getting a taxi from the airport to your place of stay, so I suggest that for this, your first visit to this beautiful island, you take a package holiday, which will take care of you from your local airport to your hotel on St Croix and back again.

This time my family and I decided to visit the biggest peninsula of Costa Rica, the Nicoya Peninsula for the first time ever since we moved there. This is an area famous for its huge waves that attract a huge amount of surfers and tourists. As our accommodations we chose Florblanca. It is a beautiful beachfront hotel located in the colorful town of Santa Teresa.
I fell in love with this hotel. What’s great about it is that it’s very private, there are only 10 villas and a villa exclusive for honeymoons spread over 7 acres of land. This assures that if you take your family there they won’t bother anyone and if you are on your honeymoon you won’t be bothered.
When we visited this fabulous place we stayed there for a couple of nights but I wish I had more time. This place was wonderful and I didn’t want to leave. Since I love the beach and listening to the sound of the sea we asked for the closes room to the beach and luckily for me it was available. The room over all was beautiful with air conditioner and a wonderful tropical decoration. But the bathroom was something else. It was an open-air bathroom.
Before I decided to visit this hotel some Friends had told me some wonderful things about the food here so I couldn’t wait to try it. The food at FB was pricey, but top-notch. Lots of fresh seafood and the best sushi we’ve ever had. The bartenders are friendly and make some delicious drinks.
This place also offers a beautiful swimming pool, a spa and yoga classes.
But the hotel wasn’t the only great thing about our trip to the Nicoya Peninsula. We also went on a couple of fantastic tours. The first day we went on a super exciting canopy tour where we got the opportunity to see so much wildlife, it was great. The next day we went on a super relaxing and fun horseback ride. The horses were beautiful and the scenery was even better.
I had a great time here and would highly recommend the Nicoya Peninsula to any traveler that wants to visit Costa Rica.

If you enjoy travelling and visiting new places, I advocate a cruise. I have cruised the Mediterranean and the Baltic and my next cruise will be a Caribbean cruise. I am really looking forward to it. If you have never been on a cruise, start saving up now, because it is opulence like you have never imagined before.
Never having been on a Caribbean cruise before, I do not know how much the various Caribbean islands differ from one another, so I do not know how varied that cruise would be. However, I have cruised the Med and the Baltic and woken up to a different country every day and in both of those seas and every country is very different from its neighbours.
On our Baltic cruise we departed from Southampton and steamed to Gothenburg in Sweden. From there we went to Helsinki and Leningrad (in those days). On the way back, we called into Copenhagen and the Tivoli Gardens. None of those countries was in any way similar to another or even Britain.
Similarly, my Mediterranean cruise left from Minorca in north eastern Spain going east to Sardinia and then north along the southern coast of Europe. Italy, France and Spain. The second week of the cruise left Minorca again and went to Sicily and then south along the northern coast of Africa including Malta.
The luxury on a cruise is almost indescribable to someone who has never been on a cruise. There is no standard higher than five stars, but the cruises I have been on offered superior levels of luxury than any five star hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world.
Food and shore excursions play a major part of cruising. The food is top notch with no mistake. Breakfast on a cruise liner is better than most Americans and most Europeans have for dinner. Whatever you want from prawns to steak, from exotic fruit to porridge. Lunch and dinner are even more lavish.
Shore excursions are well organized too. They include a ferry from the cruise liner to the shore and then a coach trip by a local firm to the location, which could be an historical site or a shopping mall. Most cruisers go on these trips, but some prefer to stay on board and take advantage of the reduced number of passengers and the free food.
I went on every shore excursion and thoroughly enjoyed each one. The excursions are usually pricey though, but you are part of a trapped audience, so what can you expect?
I thoroughly recommend a cruise holiday to any and every one. You should go at least once in your life, but do not leave it until late in your life because you will want to go again.

a. Season Matters When Traveling to Costa Rica: Living in Costa Rica I figured a way to enjoy traveling without spending too much but most importantly without having to spend my vacations among the crowds. And this is my conclusion: Late April, May, and October offer good weather with lower rates. Also between June and September and someties even November you will get good rates but not a very nice weather. December to early April are the driest months and the peak of the tourist season, so you can expect higher prices, less rooms available and crowds.
b. Costa Rican Water: Most people traveling around Central America are very concerned about how clean the water really is. And I have to admit was one of them until I found out that unlike most Latin American countries Costa Rica has a fairly safe water supply.
Want some Proof? Here is the fact that it is the only country of the region where Heineken allows its beer to be brewed.
c. Money To Change or Not to Change! One of the most common questions I get from travelers is if they should change money before coming or not?
If you are going to change the money here are some recommendations:
1. Every country is different, but in Costa Rica don’t change money anywhere except BANKS. Not only will you get the best rates, but you’re chances of getting counterfeit money are zilch. Always bring a passport.
2. ATMs are plentiful, you’ll get the best rates however, you’ll pay the small ATM fee.
3. Very few places exchange travelers checks these days, and even fewer give good rates, plus they charge 1-2% on top of it.
Cash or Credit?
I won’t lie to you, cash is king in Costa Rica. Plus, whenever you go out, ask if for the cash (Efectivo) discount and chances are you ‘ll get 5-10% off. This can be done anywhere from tour operators, to hotels, to restaurants to pharmacies.
Some places will even charge you 8% for credit card usages. Plus if you go to a local market, local currency goes much further than the dollar. You stand out less and feel more comfortable.
d. Waiting Is the Hardest Part That’s right, if you’re coming to Costa Rica be prepared to wait! In this country this is a norm. Nothing is on time in Costa Rica. Just doesn’t happen. Sorry to break it to you, but it’s so true. So come with lots of patience and besides, what’s the rush?
e. Bring plenty of Ziploc bags: Nothing stays dry there. I recommend the “Big Bags” for clothes and shoes (bring at least two or three) and several quart-size bags. I tried to do laundry in the sink and air dry, but found it very difficult to dry most articles. Since most people do rafting, swimming, waterfalls, or just crossing over streams, you’ll need bags to separate your wet stuff from your semi-dry. I would also recommend bringing plenty of changes of clothes, especially if you’re an adventurous spirit.
f. Emergency Numbers: Luckily in Costa Rica the emergency number is 911 too. It is great because they speak English and are quite helpful. The problem though, is the fact that Costa Rica has one of the trickiest address and direction systems in Central America. So learn your address well!

Spa trips are also an option where you can both unwind and enjoy the treatments together. A relaxing rub down is the ideal way for you both to relax and help you both be stress free

You do not have to wait for a special occasion to go on a romantic trip for two. Any time is good enough provided that you make some plans to get the most suitable destination where you can both be happy doing the same stuff together. It would be worthless going on a romantic break if you went off to fish on your own whist leaving your spouse on there own in the hotel. That would not be a romantic hotel break for two more like a romantic trip for 1.

The US Virgin Islands came into America’s possession in 1917 after Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to it for $25m in gold. At the time, the USA was worried that the Germans would gain control of the islands and use them as a base from which to launch attacks on America.
The status of the US Virgin Islands is one of an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States. This means the residents of the US Virgin Islands are US citizens, but cannot vote in US presidential elections. Therefore, US citizens do not need a passport to visit the US Virgin Islands.
The US Virgin Islands are part virgin Islands archipelago and are located in the Leeward islands of the Lesser Antilles along with the British Virgin Islands. The three main islands of this American territory are called Saint Croix, Saint John and Saint Thomas. There is also a much smaller island called Water Island. All together, there are about 60 islands with a total surface area of 133.73 square miles, although most of the islands are uninhabited.
The four main islands of the US Virgin Islands are known to their residents by nicknames. These are ‘Twin City’ (St. Croix); ‘Rock City’ (St. Thomas); ‘Love City’ (St. John) and ‘Small City’ (Water Island) and their total population was 108,612 in the 2000 census.
Since the 1960′s, the islands turned their focus from agriculture to heavy industry and tourism and the US Virgin Islands are a very popular destination for American tourists and honeymooners. It is very easy for Americans to get there because a passport is not required, the islands are only 1,730 miles east south-east of Miami, the currency is the US dollar and everybody speaks English.
The islands enjoy an arid, pleasant climate. The average temperature in the capital, Charlotte Amelie, is 33c in the summer and 30c in the winter. September to November are the wettest months and February and March are the driest. The USVI are subject to hurricanes. Hurricane Hugo in 1989 was particularly devastating, but the islands were also hit in 1998, 1999 and 2008.
Tourism is the industry that most of the islanders are engaged in and about 2,000,000 people visit every year, many of them on cruise liners. St Thomas and St Croix are the best equipped to deal with tourists offering hotels and resorts along with lovely beaches and fine restaurants. Water sports are the main activity, although tourists can also hire horses or jeeps to discover the interior of the US Virgin Islands.

There are plenty of destinations for people interested in sailing and if you are tired of the Virgin Islands then move on over to the rest of the Caribbean.
The Caribbean islands are part of an island chain covering 2,500 miles. Given the enormous distance, it is no wonder that tourists spend weeks out there in order to enjoy the splendour that it has to offer.
Just like in the Virgin Islands, there are lots of charter firms you can try for various hobbies. These companies come in different sizes, but perhaps the best is the yacht charter.
When you charter a yacht, apart from the yacht, the other elements and benefits that come with it are meals, separate guest rooms, a galley, toilet and shower.
Since you are the paying guest aboard the boat, you can customize the menu by telling the crew before the voyage what you want to eat. You can help out by buying the provisions yourself, having someone from the crew do it for an additional fee or choose a set menu from one of their pre-composed packages.
Since most of the islands in the Caribbean are small and uninhabited, you are certain to see places that not many have seen. But if you can’t afford to rent a chartered yacht, don’t worry because you can probably get one that will cost as little as $50 if you are able to book a pre-arranged trip with several other guests to share the bill.
One thing you ought to be prepared for during you sailing vacation is the possibility of a storm. These generally occurs during the months of June to November. If you are not sure that this is the best time, book the trip on another date.
But if you are adamant about going on your dates, there are some online tools you can utilize to check if the area you will be sailing in has ever been hit by a storm before.
The other option is to plan your itinerary to the Caribbean islands further south because they are less likely to be affected by a hurricane. These places include the islands of Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, and Turks and Caicos.
If you like the idea of going sailing around the Caribbean there are ample choices. You could do far worse than start in St Croix in the US Virgin Islands and travel south or west. If you start in St Croix, which the pirates of old used to call Santa Cruz, you will not have to have a passpert and can take your pets with you, but you will need more ID if you call into foreign islands.
