Getting a Russian bride has become more popular over the last few years. But have you ever wondered what makes the idea so attractive to men and what makes them turn away from a home grown life long partner. So what makes the idea of a Russian brides so appealing?
There are a lot of stereotypes floating around about Russian women, many which are simply not true. Although it is true that most Russian women would rather stay at home and look after the children in their native land, this has nothing to do with the fact that they are either stupid or doormats. In fact this couldn’t be further from the truth.
For a start Russian women tend to be very well educated and intelligent. Their country has a reputation as being a country of books. This is true partly because books are very cheap and other modes of entertainment such as cable television and cinema are expensive. Also the education system is good and affordable. But, as a woman, this is not the achievement that will give you the most respect.
Being a good wife and mother is the ultimate goal for most Russian women. A married woman who stays at home to raise her children is given a great deal of respect and is certainly not looked down upon as is so often done in other societies. In fact if a woman is not married by the time she is 25 she is seen as a failure and people around her may think that there is something wrong with her.
The reason for this arrangement is that women truly believe that it is the role of the man to go out and work whilst the woman should provide a warm, supportive and loving home. It is seen as a fair division of labor. Keeping her house and family running smoothly is hard work. The modern conveniences that most people in the western world take for granted are not as plentifully available in Russia.
It is accepted and seen as a vital part of a family for a woman to be dependent on her husband for financial security. There is no shame in this. It is traditional in a Russian family for all the members of it to be reliant on each other. A clue to the reason for the importance of family dependence in Russia can be found in their living arrangements. Often three generations will live together and this leads to cooperation, understanding and a sense of being reliant on each other.
The assertion that women are doormats is also false. The life of generations of women in Russia has not been easy and has involved a struggle to survive day to day. This struggle has meant that women are shrewd and tenacious and usually find a way to get what they want without their husbands being aware that they are doing it. Russian women are more likely to keep quiet about their efforts and are happy to let their husbands believe that it was their doing.
The stereotype of Russian women as beautiful, but stupid, is clearly untrue. With their intelligence, work ethic and attitude to family it is no surprise that more and more men are going to Russia to find their dream bride.
